Sectional Warp Hardware

Diane Roeder's picture

I need more of the U-shaped hardware for my sectional beam.   For clarification, I've posted a photo of what I need on my blog here.  Does anyone know where I can purchase these?  Thank you.

Hi Diane, I was unable to see

Hi Diane,

I was unable to see the photos on your blog.  The link couldn't load.  Did you try putting the photos in your forum post?  Just click on the image in the bar above the reply box.  Once you have clicked on it, click on Browse and then find your photo, click on Upload and you have the option of changing the size of the photo in the boxes to the left of the Preview box.  If the size is ok, click on OK and it should load right here.

There is a video here to help.

Hi Claudia, I actually went

Hi Claudia,

I actually went through the motions of uploading the image earlier today, but I got the impression that what I was uploading was going to become a representation of ME.  And I'm not exactly a U-shaped piece of metal.  So at any rate I'll upload it now and hope for some advice on where I can obtain more of these.  thank you!

Sure looks like a bent piece

Sure looks like a bent piece of welding rod.

You could make a jig and bend a few yourself.  It would need blocks to the left and right of a dowel hammered into a hole in a larger piece of wood, so you could bend the welding rod around the dowel and anchor the first end till you get the rod around the dowel and trapped by the second block, then saw off the tail(s)...

If I figure out how to do it, I'll load a sketch.

I think that the rod used is

I think that the rod used is harder and bends only with much more force than welding rod.

Here is the posting: POST#

Here is the posting:

Jennifer, That is good info. Thanks. I talked to Joanne @ Glimakra and she sells the loops for $ .60 ea. That is not a bad price and I know I'll be getting the correct size. So I ordered 182 of them. I'm making my own sectional warp beam attachment. Thanks again for the info.

Diane, hope this helps.

Schacht sectional Questions

I just purchased a used Schacht floor with a sectional beam. All of the sectional pegs are missing. Where can I buy them?

Also, I dont have of the accessories needed for the sectional, could I just buy a raddle for the loom and forget the sectional for now?

Schacht Sectional Questions

You can either buy a raddle or make one.  It is one of the simplest pieces of weaving equipment.  When I learned how to weave, my instructor strongly recommended that each student make a raddle--a length of 1" x 2" board and finishing nails. The rubber bands that keep the warp from jumping out of the sections have been replaced many times, but 35 years later, I'm still using the raddle.

sectional beam

You can get the pegs from Schacht.

There are numerous ways to warp without using either a raddle or sectional beam.  Some involve using lease sticks and/or warping through the reed to spread the warp.  On one of my looms (Macomber) I generally warp sectionally, but I don't on my Baby Wolf, where I use lease sticks and the reed.

Consult the above sources, or seach on YouTube.

Not all welding rod is created the same

I suspect you won't find a much harder common rod than the 70ksi electrodes and if you really want hard there is hardfacing rod used for abrasion resistance on cutting edges of excavating machinery. There are other rods with a high charpy rating for impact and toughness even at cryogenic temperatures. There are probably as many types of welding electrodes as there are types of yarn!

AVL has similar sectional seperators

The AVL Ful Frame Production Dobby seems to have identical sectional seperators to yours.
