In a private message regarding this group (I was having trouble joining), Pam asked me what classes I have attended at the Folk School. I thought I would answer that by starting a thread.
I attended the Swedish Weaving class taught by Joanne Hall (of Glimakra USA) there in March 2009. It was an excellent class (thanks Joanne!) and probably more relevant here, an excellent facility. My husband came along too and took a wood turning class. We both had a blast, and I would love to attend again at some point in the future. We live in California, so it is a long trip for us, but the good thing about that is that you don't have to bring anything with you. The studio has everything you need. I loved it. And while you are there, be sure to drop by Pam's shop. Very nice.
I'm looking forward to hearing about what others have taken or would be interested in taking at the Folk School.

Sorry that you had trouble, but I think I have it taken care of now. I had a chat with Claudia and she talked me through getting the Folk School group page to work. Glad you liked Joanne Hall's class. She is a very nice lady and really knows her Glimakra looms. Also thanks for the kind words about the weaving studio. I do try my best to make sure that things are in order. Do let me know when you plan on coming back for a class.
Happy Weaving!
Pam
I attended Scottish week at the Folk School back in 2006. I achieved my goal of learning to weave my son-in-law's family tartan. When I came home I then ordered the yarn to weave a blanket for them for their bed. The blanket is beautiful. I was weaving the last few inches when my s-i-l called me. He was back in the states on his way back from his first tour in Iraq. :-)
Boy is that making something that will last forever! What a nice gift! But IMHO I think a handwoven gift is something very special. Only special folks get a handwoven gift from me. So glad you could use what you learned from the Folk School to pass on to someone else. Hope to see you there at another time!
Pam
