I noticed a discussion in the Chat forum about meeting at Convergence and thought it would be nice to have a separate group to discuss the event.
So, join in, add your ideas, thoughts, plans, whatever.
Weavolution will be there. Looking forward to meeting lots of members there.
I'm guessing I"ll be there, but not firm plans yet.
I plan on begin there assuming that they get my class schedule corrected.
I would love to meet everyone. I gather that there are no firm plans yet as to where and when we are meeting. How about duriing lunch?
I'm trying to organize a Weavo meet up at Convergence. I have emailed them asking where we might do this since I have no idea how the conference is laid out. I'll post the information as soon as I get it.
I'm looking forward to meeting everyone.

Sound like a good idea. Lunch would be nice. It will be fun to meet people. laurie
I was looking at the convergence schedule yesterday and noticed that there is nothing on the agenda for Saturday night.. Maybe that would be a good time to meet. I saw a group was meeting at 5 pm that my be a good time for this too. I think Saturday there would be less chance of conflict with other things for people.
Sounds great. I'm looking forward to the conference & meeting others.
Count me in. I thin it would be alot of fun.

I would very much like to meet everyone but I am afraid that Saturday late afternoon would not be possible. Rats!
I just had looked at the schedule and noticed Saturday was not busy. I knew that wouldn't be the same for everyone. I wonder how hard it will be to pick a time that would be good for everyone. I thought maybe a time that was a couple hours long would work and people could come and go. I suppose it depends on how many want to come. Lunch time is short if you have morning and afternoon seminars.
My problem is that I have no classes on Saturday and had planned to spend the day looking around the city with my husband.
It is going to be hard to pick a date and time for everyone but at least it should be a time where the most of us could meet. If that means 5:00 PM Saturday then while I can't make it I will be with everyone in spirit.
I haven't looked at the schedule yet, but what about if we all sat together at the fashion show?

I agree it should be a time most of us can meet. I have most of Friday free and plan to explore with my husband that day.
I have Friday & Saturday free from Convergence activities. Planning on going up to Santa Fe on Friday.
In addition to meet-ups and possibly gathering for a meal, I think it would be great if people seeking roomies for Convergence could use this forum to find each other!

Saturday night is when the American Tapestry Alliance tapestry networking get-together takes place, from 5-7 pm.
Hello all - I will be at Convergence too. It would be fun to meet up with other Weavolution folks. Sat at 5 pm suits me fine. I will keep checking back here to see what might be happening. We know there will be thousands of people there and lots going on. If Weavolution is there officially (booth? display somewhere?) as in the first post from Claudia, maybe that would be a good meeting point to start with?
Weavolution will officially be there. See this post.

Hello
I'm all for getting together and meeting new people but finding a time and place that would be perfect for everyone is impossibe. I suggest some one get a place and set a time and place. Those of us that can make it will
Hi Moe,
Weavolution has a booth in the vendor hall. We have some special activities planned and hope you will check the schedule, as we get closer, and stop by and say hello.
Claudia, Weavolution co-founder
For a meet-up, I propose 5:00 - 6:00 pm in the lobby outside the vendor hall on Thursday.
The primary reason is that this time is not blocked out for any other group. (Complex and Boston groups meet 4:15-5:00 IN the vendor hall) and I assume the vendor hall closes around 5:00 to give the vendors a dinner break. So there might be a natural flow of traffic in this lobby area at that time.
The cafe dinner starts at 6, so you will be able to make your pre-paid dinner reservation and attend the meet-up. I assume the dinner is somewhere in the conference center (as it was in Tampa), so you will be close by. The featured speaker begins at 7:30, so you won't miss that either. If anyone is just coming in for a day visit, I figure this might be "the day" since the fashion show exhibit will be mounted, and there is the extended shopping Thursday eve with specials in the vendor hall, beginning at 8:45.
Believe it or not, there are groups that will be meeting over the noontime on all the other days: HGA Focus Group on Thursday, the Norwegian Textile Guild on Friday, and TWIST on Saturday.
And trying to gather a group for a meal is tough when a convention is in town. The nearby restaurants are overwhelmed at specific times when everyone is trying to get food before going to their next class or seminar. The bigger the group, the longer the wait to get seated and served, even with reservations.
So what do you think? Although it will be nice to stop by the Weavolution booth at our leisure throughout the conference (booth #329), I would certainly like to meet fellow posters at a specified time and place during the conference!
Sally
I agree with Sally. It will be nice to have the booth but who knows how many people will be there at the same time as me. I vote for the time frame Sally suggested.
That time on Thursday works for me! Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sounds good to me!
