Introductions

marian's picture

I created the group, so I'll start.

I'm Marian, I'm one of the designers of the site.  I noticed a number of introductions on other forums from weavers that are in British Columbia.

I've been weaving for about 7 or 8 years.  My loom has been mostly lying fallow for the last couple of years because I've been very busy with other things (including this site for the last 9 months).

I'm in Victoria, belong to the VHWSG and I've only been in BC for about 3 years.

Hi Marian, I"m in Prince

Hi Marian,

I"m in Prince George (born and raised).  :)  Got to see Lee V at ANWG a couple of weeks ago.  Sounds like the Victoria group are keeping busy.  :D

I have 3 looms, 2 of which stay pretty busy.  Right now I'm working on new chenille scarves for fall sales and the AVL is sitting idle.

Cheers,

Laura

Hi there, I'm Lynnette and I

Hi there,

I'm Lynnette and I live in Coldstream in the North Okanagan.  I like to think of myself as an active weaver and always try to have something on my main looms.  I find my blogspot keeps me weaving like mad too.

Right now I'm working on scarves, scarves, scarves, try ing to get some inventory for the upcoming sale season.

I belong to the Ponderosa Guild in Kelowna and am active in the Guild of Canadian Weavers where I'm the Scholarship Chair and the Exchange Coordinator.

Hi,  I'm Susan and I live

Hi,  I'm Susan and I live near Duncan on Vancouver Island. I'm an active weaver and have two main floor looms and a table loom. Like Lynnette, I always have warps on the go and also post on my blog which I call my weaving journal.

My looms have runners for the GCW weaving exchange and placemats. A shawl commission is next up for a client.

I'm a member of the Tzouhalem Weavers and Spinners Guild (Duncan)  and their Librarian and member of the 'Working Group' that coordinatesand runs the guild.  I'm also a member of the Shuswap Weavers and Spinners Guild (Salmon Arm) as a long distance member ( I used to live there!)  I am a former member of the Kalamalka Weavers (Vernon) guild and a past president of the Ponderosa Guild ( Kelowna).  I have also been a member of the Guild of Canadian Weavers since 1997 and served as BC Rep and President (2003- 2007) and also past Pres (2007-2008).

I'm enjoying my time weaving and very happy that Weavolution is up and running.

Now if someone could explain to me how to post pictures, I'd be a really happy camper!

Susan

Hi - I'm Terri and live on

Hi - I'm Terri and live on Salt Spring Island, BC.

I'm a Saori weaver and offer classes, workshops and retreats at my studio (with B&B option in our cottage).  I've been weaving Saori-style since 2005 and am a member of the Salt Spring Weavers and Spinners Guild.

I am excited to be going back to Japan this fall for the 40th anniversary of Saori weaving.  While it is still new in North America - only about 6 studios teaching Saori weaving - there are over 50,000 Saori weavers in Japan!

Prior to weaving the Saori-way, I was a traditional weaver for 20+ years.

I have weavings for sale at ArtCraft on Salt Spring Island and I also teach monthly classes at Knotty by Nature in Victoria, BC.

Hi All - I am Evelyn and am

Hi All - I am Evelyn and am currently living in Grand Forks.  I have been weaving since 1978, but currently only have  my AVL active since my move here.  I don't weave for sale any longer, just enjoy weaving for myself and gifts for friends and family, so have been letting go of a lot of my extra weaving equipment and yarns.

I am a Master Weaver through the Guild of Canadian Weavers and a member of the Complex Weavers, and right now only the 16's study group, but did coordinate a Damask study group for four years and did participate in various other groups.

I am a member of the Grand Forks Weavers, but haven't had time to participate much (house renovating since I arrived here has taken up most of my time)  I have tried to contact the Cross Border Weavers without success and I see Sue that you are a member so perhaps might help me!

I have been enjoying sharing my weaving studies through the years on my blog  http://evelynoldroyd.wordpress.com

Cheers!  Evelyn

Hello all, especially to

Hello all, especially to Evelyn in Grand Forks. I was bitten by the weaving bug while living there 1981-84. I was a new public health nurse and really wanted to learn to weave. So I asked the health unit secretary if she knew of any weavers- she sent me down the street to introduce myself to Elena who was the president at that time. I was welcomed into the fold and learned so much. I have fond memories of my time living there, not only to do with weaving of course, but it was a great way to meet new friends and expand my horizons. Since then, I have moved on and now belong to my fourth guild, the Sunshine Coast Spinners and Weavers. I have always found guild members to be generous with their time and sharing their knowledge. What a great way to promote our passion!

Hello, I live in Burton on

Hello, I live in Burton on the Arrow Lakes0.  I am usually busy working, but now I am busy weaving a baby blanket and loving it.

I hope to learn more about weaving on a drawloom.  I have a 8 S Leclerc, a double harness 8 S with 51 pattern shafts that is a Woolhouse Loom, and a 12 S Woolhouse tableloom.  I also have a 4S Nilus Leclerc Floor Loom for sale.  I am still setting up my drawloom and plan to finish setting it up over the summer.

I am interested in many things about fibre.  Historical weaves are most interesting to me.  I am drawn to natural fibres and currently have woad and flax growing in my garden.  I belong to the Shuswap Spinners and Weavers Guild, the Handweavers Spinners Dyers of Alberta, the Guild of Canadian Weavers, and am the Education Chair for the Association of Northwest Weavers Guild.

I live not too far from some of you, but not close to any guilds.  Sigh!

All for now, Denice

Hi, I am Karen

Hi, my name is Karen. I live in Surrey, and I am releatively new to the weaving world. I have been weaving on a 4 shaft Ashford Table loom for the last couple of years, but only actively weaving for the last 6 months.

I recently purchased an Inkle Loom and have been weaving some straps on that for the last couple of months.

My most recent purchase was a Leclerc Nilus II 45" Loom which should be arriving in about a week. I really looking forward to working on some larger projects.
