Good Morning Everybody, When I saw this group, I couldn't resist joining. YEAR
Hi lace.knitter. Welcome! Have a look around and let us know if you have any questions.
Laverne
Hey! I joined after aunt janet pointed me in this direction. I am a complete beginner.
Hi there and welcome. Well Aunt Janet started from scratch like you and has been working her way through all the tutorials. She is even weaving with her own handspun now so we must get you up and running too.
Take a look around the group forum. You might find my article in WeaveZine helpful to get started..........

Post here or start a new thread if you have any quetions.

Hey Jordan,
Good to see you are posting here. This is a great group, and you are going to do great. Welcome!
Aunt Janet
Lace Knitter,
That is exactly how I felt. I couldn't resist this opportunity. I'm so glad I didn't! I'm starting my nineth backstrap project this morning! I'm going for another double weave project using handspun alpaca this time. I'll use some of those new patterns Laverne just posted.
Aunt Janet
Hi, My name is Bonnie and I just joined the group. I was gifted an Orca 74 floor loom from a friend who was moving several years ago and have not had the time to do anything with it. I now have the time and don't know how to put it together or use it. I used to have pictures, I will have to see if I can find them. It's in
pieces right now. I don't have an instruction manual. If I did it would
be much easier. I'm pretty good at following instructions. But just
looking at pieces and figuring them out is a bit beyond me. : (
I'm wondering if anyone knows how to put it together and could help me.
Hi Bonnie,
I wish I could help but I think you will reach more people and get more responses if you post this question in the WEAVING forum.

Hi, its night where I am, but welcome! I'm in Australia, where are you?
Have you done any backstrap weaving before? If you have managed to read our older posts, you will realise we are a pretty international bunch, and we are at all different stages of weaving. Laverne has written some great tutorials starting with the very basics and there are group members working their way through them at their own pace. Others, who spin, are trying to spin their own warp, not quite as easy as it sounds if you are used to spinning knitting yarn!
Most of the other members will be waking up about now, so there will be people along to answer questions shortly, and they are a friendly bunch - its an active group as you've probably already worked out! In the meantime have you caught up with the article in Weavezine? There are links to some excellent videos on Youtube:
www.weavezine.com/content/backstrap-basics
and its better than any books I have come across! I'm on my way to bed, but I'll catch you in the morning if you are still around
Cheers!
