Cyber-Fiber is the Weavolution online classroom which is launching very soon. We will offer online classes via Webex video web conferencing. Several well known hand weaving teachers will be teaching live, interactive classes on topics related to hand weaving.
Cyber-Fiber is sponsoring an open house when we launch to offer interested Weavolution members a chance to try the technology free of charge. Once classes begin, there will be a reasonable fee to take the class.
Classes will be limited to 4-6 students and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration will be via Paypal and you must have an active email address on your Paypal account, including home address and phone, to participate in the classes.

Fantastic! Weavolution is going from strength to strength! All these new exciting developements in the cyber weaving world - are we going to have enough time to do some weaving, ;-)?
Just joking! This will be great for those of us who cannot get to regular courses and workshops, or who's local guilds and groups do not offer the techniques to be studied.
Thank you all. Caroline, you nailed it. This will give those who are in remote areas or who want to take a class from the comfort of their home to participate in a variety of classes.
I am hoping to have it up in about a week. We'll start with some FREE open house type meetings so people can get a sense of how things work.

The Navajo rug weaving group is still active. There was a discussion this week about appropriate yarn for warp. Since you are a member of the group, just go to MY Groups in the orange box at the top right side of this page and you will see the most recent chats for the group.

We have scheduled an Open House for you to try out video web conferencing and see how it will work as a classroom. There will be several opportunities to meet other Weavolution members and witness the ease of meeting online.
Several teachers have submitted class proposals and we are busy filling the schedule with lots of exciting and interesting options.

I'd love to do this, and I have a little net-book computer with a built in web cam, but I've never used it. If I can figure out how to use it tomorrow I'll sign up.

That's great Doreen. If you want, get on the first session at 3pm Eastern time and I'll help you figure it out. Most newer computers have built in cameras, mic and speakers. My 86 year old mom did it, I have confidence a lot of other people can too.
