This is a really great festival, come check it out!
My husband and I are very excited about being vendors at the Natural Fiber Fair in Arcata, CA on September 10th and 11th. We will be showcasing our Quad rigid heddle looms, which are designed so you can weave with up to four heddles at once. Some folks on this site have asked where they can try out the Quad: if you're in the neighborhood--northern CA or southern OR--this is a good opportunity to do just that (plus take amazing workshops, buy fleece and yarn, work on projects with other fiber fans, etc.). We will have looms warped with one, two, and four heddles for you to test drive. Also, I will be demonstrating the broomstick method of direct warping a rigid heddle loom. This is a method I developed to overcome some of the tension problems weavers tend to experience with the single peg method of direct warping. We hope to see you there!
I will have a booth for my business, Aunt Janet's Fiber Mill! I'll also be teaching spinning on a spindle, and basic backstrap weaving. There is plenty of room in all of the workshops, so go to the site Linda posted above and sign up for some workshops.

Yes, for wide warps, the direct warping method will create longer warps at the edges if you put the whole warp on the peg. But one usually would not do that. For better tension using direct warping wind about four inches of the warp and then tie the bundle and maybe a choke or two on the warp if it is long. Then move the peg, clamp and wind the next 4 inches. That way all the warp ends are the same length.
