We just completed our 2nd Shadow weave class, the rain and winds are picking up here on the East Coast and the internet is slowing down!  I hope that despite the slow loading we were able to complete our class!  Hoping my basement studio stays very dry!

Re: Irene

Wishing everyone the best possible on the upper east coast, we only got 2 rain bands early yesterday here in North East Florida.

Thanks, subways and transport shut down from philly to NYC, this has never happened before, we have already had the wettest Aug on record,  Even without the high winds, moisture in the tree roots = fallen trees= power outages.  It is a strange late summer indeed!  My looms are in my basement, I think we are the highest home on my street so hopefully no water intrusion!

What a crazy week. I live

What a crazy week. I live just outside Washington, DC and we had an earthquake earlier this week and now a hurricane is blowing things around outside. Our power lines are buried so no worries where we live but the lines coming into our community are surrounded by larger, older trees. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Let us know how you fare.  We are directly in the projected path through MA for tomorrow.  Best wishes,

Keeping you all in my thoughts!

I have never lived in an area threatened by hurricanes, so I can only emphathize. However, I will be keeping you in my thoughts, best of luck to you all!  I really feel like Weavolution is an extension of my family. Please let us know that things are well.

Best wishes,

Erica

I woke up early expecting the

I woke up early expecting the usual post-hurricane weather, sunny and warm.  This is such a huge storm that one final band is moving through our area now, at 7am Eastern.  This storm has lasted  over 12 hours.  It must be one of the most enduring storms ever.

Good luck to Laurie Autio and all our Weavo friends in New England.  Hopefully, your power will remain on and we will see you around Weavo soon.

I have lived through dozens of hurricanes.  This is the first one that has lasted this long.  We are, however, extremely lucky to have our power on throughout. Extremely lucky.

That's a lot of rain!

I'm in the NY metro area. I'm hoping the worst of it's gone. So far I'm in one of the few areas in my town that still have power. We're under a boil-water advisory, though. Trees down all over town and houses near the creek have been evacuated. Very happy that we didn't see the full force of the storm; I feel for those that did.

Still doing well in central MA, though the wind and rain are picking up. Looks considerably less intense than they were predicting for this time.

Not as bad as they thought.

We didn't lose any trees (yet) and we live in a heavily-wooded region.

It seems Irene wasn't as bad as expected in our area of Northern NJ. Thankfully. We have seen double the rainfall for August before this storm, so there is concern about the trees still coming down, bringing power lines with them. It's heading toward noon now on Sunday, still murky and rainy, but much less winds.

Wish I could send some of this rain down to Deb, in Texas.

missed the "Meet the Cyber-Fiber teachers"

Drat that Irene. My power went out about 15 mins before the Meet the Cyber-Fiber teachers webinar was to begin. Out for 4 hours, we haven't had much but torrential rain and winds. Not on the coastline or river, so flooding's not an issue. I don't see another Meet listed. Is there a recording that I could view? I want to get started.

I've been working Stitches

I've been working Stitches MidWest this weekend in Chicago and listening to all the vendors figure out how they will get back home to the east coast.  Lots of delays till Monday night or Tuesday.  In the meantime my husband sent me an email advising me that we hit 109 at home in the Hill Country and further south of San Antonio it hit 117, we get a cold front later this week with temps down to the 90's.  We sure could use some of this rain, too bad we can't all divy it up equally!  I grew up in Houston and went thru many hurricanes.  They blow long and hard and you just have to wait and hope that the drains are clear and no debris breaks a window, the power stays on and the trees stay put.  Good luck to everyone out east.  You guys have had your share of rain!  take care  Deb Mc

I agree with Sally

Wish we could send some of this water to TX! My area saw a lot of flooding (thankfully we are dry). Ironically, there is so much water, but none in our taps. The flooding shut down the water treatment facility, so no water to my town and several others. Hmm, I think living with 3 teenage boys who can't shower is going to get old, fast! ;-)

But at least we have power!

Like Deb

I wish we could have gotten some rain out of Irene. We only got some light wind. Being from NY I have been through two major hurricanes and here in Georgia two minor ones. It looks like a other one coming off of Africa and one heading out to sea away from land.
