Here at Weavolution, we are still chasing down all the dust bunnies that arose with the recent move and upgrade. But we have corralled quite a few in the last two weeks (thanks to your help!) I wanted to let you know about some improvements we have undertaken based on your feedback

  1. Put Forum and Group comments  in chronological order (unthreaded)
  2. Font size is smaller in the Comments areas and less white space on each page.
  3. Email alerts are sent when you receive a PM.

Please continue giving us feedback on the website.  I’d love to hear from our dial up users.  We speeded things up with a different type of server to improve the experience for everyone, DSL and dial-up.  I would love to hear if it has helped.

writing colour

I find it difficult to see what I am writing as the text is an orange/yellow on the white background. It is not until I move the prompter out of the text field I can see what it says. This is a little bothersome, I find.
I also felt really sad that all my favorites, users as well as projects, from the last year had vanished into thin air.
And I also could not add what yarn I had used, nor the colours, on the project I just added.
But I realize you are all working hard at it, and wish you all the best. So I hope this does not sound all too negative.

Hi Ellen, I don't know where

Hi Ellen,

I don't know where you are entering items that you see the orange/yellow letters.   Can you give me the url from the page you are on when this happens so I can check it out.  Sounds odd.

I have just completed the new How to add a project since things are changed here.  It's here, and may be helpful.

Thank you for your patience. Enjoy finding new favorites and adding them to your notebook. We'll never redo the site again, not in my lifetime at least.  This has been a rocky road for all of us and what we have in return is really worth it.  We were days from crashing completely, which we didn't realize, and that would have been the end of Weavolution.  Not a happy thought.

feedback

I was just replying to a for-sale posting - therefore timely - and kept seeing tthe "member since" date and thinking it was the original posting date.  I'm sure I'll get used to the format, and but y'all might consider more emphasis on posting date.

Lots of good work going on here -

I agree.  I have been trying to adjust to the white writing on the gray and it's tough for me, too.  We may need to put that on the next fix-it list.

Thanks for the feedback.

Much better and better every day I think.

I couldn't log on tho at all this morning.  I was fine with all the rest of the internet so assume it was Weavolution.  The standard internet message saying it was too busy.

That's odd.  If that happens again, you can try clearing your cookies and your cache or try a different browser.

I'll pass your note on and see if there is another possible cause. Glad you were able to get in tonight.  I'll let you know if there's something going on I am unaware of.

I clear cookies and cache automatically when I shut down my computer.  This hasn't happened before so perhaps just a glich in connectivity on my server this morning.  I am using Firefox btw.

the orange letters come out

the orange letters come out when you disable rich-text(below comment box)it turns black after you move the mouse-pointer away. I never disable rich-text but one should check the notice below the comment box is not "enable rich-text ,if so click on it to change it.

Just found this by trial i am not an expert and i don't know what rich-text means.

yellow texts

Hi Jeannine,
Thanks for the tip. I have no idea what this "rich " HTLM is, but have just tried, while writing this to you, and it does not make any difference wheter the Rich thingy is on or off, yellow it is and stays, until I move the cursor out of the text box.
And if Claudia sees this : it happens whether I write comments in forums, like now, or add projects, or write PM's.
I don't know if this was the information you wanted?

I believe that rich test just means that you can have formatting capability.  What I found with the troublesome yellow is that if I move my pointer off of the box, the yellow turns to black.  I don't need to move the cursor, just roll the mouse off.  If you don't find that works for you, please let me know.  We need to report it because that yellow is difficult to read!  And I want to report it correctly.

Thanks,

Alison

yellow letters

As I said above: I get the yellow letters no matter whether the "rich" is on or off. I get them on all possible places you can write, PMs, comments, projects. And the texts do go grey, when the mouse scroll arrow is outside the text box. I am trying to get used to putting it out there, when I have been using it to "jump in" to correct details etc, Just get in there quick, move the cursor to where you want to work,( if you can see it), get the arrow out again, Then, when you have finished adding or correcting, or whatever, the same procedure again. It IS possible but a little bothersome. It would be very nice to have it altered some time.

Ellen, What browser and what

Ellen,

What browser and what computer are you using?  One thing to try is to clear your cookies and cache.  I was having a terrible time entering projects in Safari on my Mac and I cleared my cookies and cache (it's in the tab at the top of the page marked "History" in Safari) and I restarted the computer and I haven't had a problem since.

Just a thought.  Thanks for being so patient with this.  As Alison said, we are making our way through the list.  It's a lot easier if we can reproduce the issue and that's why it's important to tell us the browser info.

the yellow issue again :-)

Hi Claudia and Alison.
Thanks for your answers.
I am using PC and IE, the newest version available.
I have had the advice before, Claudia, about clearing cache and cookies, but I don't really like to do it, as I seem to lose a lot of handy info that I want to keep. The few times I have tried it, it did not solve anything, though, only meant I had to re-esatblish several things that my pc normally just keeps for me.
I'll just live with the yellow until you guys get around to doing something about it, among all your hard work. which I appreciate bery much

I do!

I like it!  But I wish some of the pictures weren't so low res, especially the ones that end up on the home page.

also I think you should be able to respond to a 'News' item when you click on it instead of having to go over to this forum to do it.

But mostly I think the changes really rock. :)

Hi Marie, The low res problem

Hi Marie,

The low res problem has to do with the uploaded picture.  In the early days of weavolution, all the photos uploaded were small, so those pictures don't blow up well.  After the first adjustment of the upload process about one year ago, the resolution depends more on what the member uploaded and less on system restrictions (2MB).

Thanks for the suggestion and we're really glad you like the new Weavolution!

You're welcome.  Have you

You're welcome.  Have you tried clicking on My Groups in the orange box?  We just added a new format so you can see all the comments that have been recently posted in the groups you belong to AND you can click on the red new from that view.

Options, it's nice to have options.

posting photos

I'm using IE on my PC & the ability to post photos has gone. I thought I saw another post about this, but can't find this today. I have no interest in junking my system up with programs I don't use. I've always thought that one of the responsibilities of the web page developer is to make sure pages work with all formats. For IE, the most prevelent browser system, to work poorly is unbelievable.
The above comments about text color also applies to my system. It doesn't matter which HTML input I choose, text is shifting colors - especially yellow.

I find that IE 7 and 8 do not

I find that IE 7 and 8 do not work for lots of the newer websites.  The original thread about this discussed the incompatibility of IE with several top sites and that is why they are working hard and fast to release IE 9.

Meanwhile, you may find Firefox and Chrome, which is what I use, are both great with Weavolution.

Hi Jemwork

Shortly after we moved to this new site, it became apparent that several features are not available in either IE 7 or 8.   We posted several comments about this issue and gave links to either Firefox or Chrome which are browsers that work well with most Drupal sites like Weavolution.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any other problems or concerns.  The original post is here.

I've always used IE and could

I've always used IE and could never understand why anyone would want to use anything else, but because of the problem of not being able to post pictures here on Weavolution I down loaded Chrome. It turns out that I love Chrome and always use it now instead of IE. It's much faster and I love the spell check feature which is similar to MS Word, where it underlines a word that is spelled wrong, and you just right click the word to see the suggestions. It does this for my e-mail and any programs opened with Chrome.

I felt the same way about

I felt the same way about Firefox but encountered problems with a new update and was prepared to hate Chrome and it turns out I love it too.  Some things still require Safari but I'm Chrome all the way.
