New Weavolution

I've been with Weavolution since before it launched, and the new "look" is very nice, but I'm having trouble finding things.  Help seems to be gone, but maybe that's because things have changed so much it needs to be rewritten completely?  The Report A Bug forum is also gone, so should those posts go here at Weavolution Help?  Which brings to mind the posts in this forum that seem to be just requests for weaving help rather than help using Weavolution.  Has that changed too?

Yikes!  I feel like such a newbie!

I did notice what I think is a bug.  I saw the thread on the home page in the forum Weave Fail.  I'm not a member, so I was surprised I could see it.  I clicked on it and joined the group (sounds like a great group!), but I appear to have the option to do administrative things that I can't do for any other group that I tried.  Here's a picture of what I see:

I also noticed that when you look this thread (http://www.weavolution.com/forum/sale-or-trade/test-14450) the "next forum topic" link is to this same post so you have to go back to the forum page and select it manually.  *NOTE* After posting this, I see the "next forum topic link" is back to this one so it's another never-ending loop.

Lastly (for now anyway), is there a way to get a list of all the forums I'm a member of to see which ones have unread posts?  I can't find them.

Please let me know if this belongs in a different forum.

Thanks,

Tina

Ditto on Tina's question

Ditto on Tina's question about where do I find my groups, the 4 choices on the home page just send me to a list of groups. Does a list of my groups with new comments exist?

I can't see the posts in my groups either.  From what I saw at Convergence, there should be a Groups Activity tab when you go to My Groups. I thought I had just missed seeing it but checking now, it's not there.

Hi all, Sorry it took until

Hi all,

Sorry it took until now to get to answer your questions.  I took a little break tonight.  The help sections are almost done, I'm the only one doing all this right now with Alison at Convergence and there have been lots of fires to put out with the migration.  We focused on getting all the pictures over first.

Groups and forums are two separate items.  I explained some of the changes in this post so please take a look at that.  It explains what happened on the old site and why groups and forums are now so different.

Tina, you have found a couple problems which I will look into with our developers.

Everyone belongs to all 6 Forums, just as always.  You join Groups, not Forums.   All your groups should be in My Groups and all the comments are there.  Finding new comments has changed.  The chart of your groups which looks like this (for my groups)

shows where there are new comments.  These comments may be new topics in your group or they may be comments inside an existing thread.  We will work on a better system for finding the new comments.

At this point, we need to fix the remaining bugs, work on completing the help topics since they have changed and raising some serious cash to add further functionality.

Thanks for your continued patience.  If you have a little time to help out, that would be great.  I have one person working on some Help videos for our YouTube channel but since I have NO training in computers, I am having difficulty figuring out how the YouTube channels work.

Please contact me at claudia@weavolution.com if you can volunteer.  And please put questions in Improving Weavolution.

Thanks,

Claudia

Oh, and one more thing, the Hot Threads are still on the Home page to see what is going on in Groups and Forums and there is a box on the left side with "Active Forum Topics".  Both good places to find the latest items of interest.

Hi, let me help Claudia out

Hi, let me help Claudia out here, I did some of the beta testing on this site. In the orange box on the top right there is a listing (my Groups) this should bring up all your groups with the lastest replys.

Its a bit different, but as long as you treat it as a new site, and don't look for what used to be where, it starts making sense. I haven't tried everything out yet, but have sorted out the groups/forums bit, and can work from one to the other. Its actually a lot more user friendly than the old site was, but we had become so used to it, we have now forgotten how much we grumbled about the glitsches when it first started up!

One comment: when making a post, not all the buttons in the menu bar work immediately; the ones for link/unlink only seem to work after I start a second paragraph - how odd, :-)!

Thanks Caroline, I was just looking around and noticed this has disappeared today.  It worked at midnight last night but is gone now.  Ugh.  I'll get on it.

Tina, it's all your fault, I got sidetracked reading the posts in the weave fail group :-)

I don't see those options either as an admin or for a group that I've create, so I'm baffled where they are coming from.

We'll have to look into it and see what's going on.

Well, I do still like the new

Well, I do still like the new format and will remain patient.  I'll let you guys know when I'm back in town (mid-August) and can help out then.  I know nothing of YouTube, other than watching videos myself, so can't help with that.

That Weave Fail group is fun, isn't it Marian.  It makes me feel better about all my weaving mistakes.
