Several years before my father passed away, he purchased a leClerc rug loom.  My mom and I know nothing about the loom, so we don't know what to advertise to try and sell it.  We know it's 36 inches wide, is in working order, and she thinks they paid around $2000 quite a few years ago.  It's in wonderful condition.  Would you help us out, so we can perhaps get the price we should?  Thanks for your help.  Sincerely, Tammy

loom prices

It is really unfortunate but looms depreciate alot over time.  Used heavily or not.  I buy and sell alot of used looms in Michigan.  In my area, a LeClerc rug loom goes for $400-$750.  A bench might add $100 to the price.  If you find the right person looking for that model loom, you might do better, but that is about the going price in my area.

If you haven't already done

If you haven't already done it, you can search the For Sale or Trade forum to see if similar looms have sold recently. This would give you a good idea of an asking price.

Good Luck,

Erica

Rug loom?

Most non-weavers call all looms rug looms.  You need to find out which model you have.  Go to LeClerc's web site.  They have drawings and diagrams of all their looms, both new and out of production.

Around here (central Virginia) counterbalanced 4 shaft looms go for about $400 for a 42 to 45 inch weaving width.  Jack looms are somewhat higher, depending on condition, number of treadles and type of brake system and if they are still in production.
