Could we have someplace to easily post the spammer names? The
options now are to either post a new message (like this one) or dig
through and find that LOOOOOOOONG posting that has all the message
people have posted to in the past when a spammer popped up. Some other
sites have a "flag this" kind of box that you can just check when you see a
spam message. I assume those check boxes trigger notes to the admin
people so they can take care of it sooner rather than leter.
Anyway - david.grace248 appears to be a spammer.
Thanks,
you know, they just recently announced a new address to send spam notices to but I can't find it in resources or help...anyone know where the magic "report spam" address is available for reporting spam???
You can use abuse@weavolution.com or contact@weavolution.com. Weavolution is now owned by Erica and Oliver Jones and I have notified them of the recent spam. Thanks for your assistance. I am sure Erica and Oliver will take care of it when they can.
Claudia Segal, Weavolution co-founder and former owner
I agree. A "report spam" tab or something like that that takes you automatically to a place where you can message Erica would be good. I reported that spammer this morning while he was in the act and he kept on spamming and knocking my comment off the top of the ''most recent post'' list.
Or have that spam-reporting email address someplace where we can find it easily.
Thank you for reminding me of this! I keep thinking that we need a report this post link, but have not yet added it to things for the Weavolution changes. Please keep in mind that major changes like this do take an extensive amount of coding, which has to be funded. As we are committed to keep weavolution free to use, we rely on your donations and our advertisers to fund such changes. We encourage very one to use the ads on Weavolution to navigate to advertisers sites when you shop with them. This lets them know that their continued support of Weavolution is valuable to you and to them!
Thanks for posting on this most recent spammer. Unfortunately the notice came through just after I can gone to be, please remember the site now has international owners! We will take care of these asap. This is why we're asking that folks use the e-mail for now. We check the weavolution e-mail every morning and far more reguarly than we can keep an eye on these threads.
Thanks for your continued help in this matter!
Cheers,
Erica
I've already e-mailed Erica about the latest spammer that hit just this evening, and I'm sure she'll clean it up as soon as she can. I think the person posted somewhere between 10 and 15 comments on old discussions.
Of course, if you see spam, please don't click on their links, even if you are curious. There is no telling what may pop up. While some spammers are just trying to get you to buy a product, others can be more malicious and are trying to trick you into accidentally visiting unsafe websites that can bypass your computer security and hijack your PC.
I received several e-mails within 5 mins of one another on Berry. I blocked the user as soon as I saw the messages. Oliver and I just spent quite a bit of time deleting all the spam. The good news is that with the new Mollom settings we were able to report the content, so if the person creates another account and attempts to use the same message it will block it no matter what.
Cheers,
Erica
Good going, that's nice to hear. That Berry was all over the place suddenly!!
The odd thing was that for the first time in ages I received notifications by mail about new comments. That function hasn't worked for me for soooo long. I wonder if it will in future?
Ellen,
That's very interesting. Would you please drop me a line to let me know which messages you received notifications for? This might help us figure out if there is a problem with notifications.
Cheers,
Erica
