I'm looking to finally buy a small table loom for sampling and workshop, maybe an occasional small project when my floor loom (110 Glimåkra) is busy, but not as a primary loom. I like the Ashfords, and I would really like a loom with Texsolv heddles.  I'm primarily concerned with how well they hold tension, especially when working with linen. I posted earlier about the plastic knobs on the Ashfords, and Sara among others assured me that they were ok in that regard.  I'm also concerned with warping ease (back to front, scandinavian method) and portability. I'm looking at the 8 shaft versions.

Can anyone compare the Ashford Katie to their regular folding table looms? Or is there another workshop loom I should consider?

Thanks!marie

Katie

I am also looking for a table loom for sampling. You might read a review of the Katie on Paradise Fibers website. I am assuming it is a legitimate review. I would like to actually see one in person some time.

Good luck!

Prefer the Ashford Table to the katie

I like the Ashford loom the best of most of the table looms.  I only tried the Katie for a minute or two, but I didn't like it as much as the Ashford.  Now I've never woven linen so I can't tell you how well any of them would work.  I do know that the Ashford seemed to hold the tension well and I tend to weave with a high tension.

Voyager probably

Hi, thanks!  After talking to several people who teach-- I figure they see a lot of table looms in action-- I've decided to get the Voyager. I'm not a big LeClerc fan, but the reaction was so overwhelmingly in favor of the Voyager!  I've woven on it and it's a nice loom too.
