I'm considering purchasing this 15 inch 2 harness table loom to use to teach weaving to my grandson and maybe use for small projects when something big is on my Mighty Wolf.
Can anyone identify it or have any comments about it? It has an 8 dent reed.

Lily Mills, now closed, used to make a small two shaft counterbalance table loom. And I know in at least one community there was a woodworker who made copies and sold this type of loom. There is no one making them today. Just go ahead and weave on it. I wove on one once and it worked just fine. I have the use of a similar little table loom, where the bottom part is a frame, but it has the same peg handle on top of the counterbalance rocker, and a lovely wooden 8-dent reed, and some ancient-&-perfectly-servicable string heddles. Weaves just a treat and is delightful for smaller projects and demos. I'd go for it.
Apparently this one says Spokane somewhere on it. I guess I'll go take a look today. The lady wants $80.00 for it, which is a little out of my budget right now. I'll ask about the reed being wood.
It was Spokane where a man was making looms like this. The weavers there liked the loom. But I don't remember that the reed was made of wood. A 15 inche reed costs about $30.

I just joined up here. I got a Lily table loom a few months ago at an auction. I figured for $10 I couldn't go too wrong. It has a few condition issues like the finish is a bit rought and a bit of rust on the piece that you use to beat down the fabric. As you can guess, I don't know all the proper terminology yet! I guess my biggest question right now is where I can find instructions, or even some really good photos of how to warp it. It's partially done, with the warp attached on 1 side but the other ends are loose, just knotted gently to keep them from pulling out.
Before I forget, I'm Gail and live in Iowa. I've been peaking in occasionally since I found this forum while searching for information on this loom. So much interesting informatin here!

Do a web search for "warping loom", you should come up with many web pages on how it is done. Even if the instructions aren't specifically for your little loom, you could still follow the steps but to a smaller scale. There are many beginning weaving books on how to warp and weave also. Here is a link to get you started.
