Ack! Tension has loosened on one bout!

I am four yards into a nine yard warp and the tension on one of the selvedge bouts is quite loose.  Now I suppose it's possible that it has been loose for four yards --- that would explain some selvedge issues -- but my question is, what do I do at this point?  It's a group of perhaps 15 threads of 2/24 wool.  Can I weight the whole group?  How do I do that evenly?  Or do I need to weight each thread?

I am of course racing to meet a deadline and need to get back to weaving ASAP.  I'll be searching through my books but really hope weavers here have some tips.

Thanks!

I would probably try

I would probably try weighting the whole bout with an S hook with a large washer hanging on it. You could add more washers if needed, just be sure not to use too many. Also, I make sure I take the weight off when I'm not weaving.

Good luck

Jane, that's pretty much what

Jane, that's pretty much what I did.  It worked fine for the next foot but it did seem to be sagging further.  I worried that this would be an increasing problem over the next four yards.  Since I was at a spot where I expect to cut the finished cloth, I wove a header and pulled up the loose threads before beginning the next length of cloth.  So far (two feet on) the tension seems to be holding well.

I think I must have done something wonky in my beaming.  Very frustrating.

WOW!

You have come up with a wonderful solution.  You might have to add more weights to added areas just to meet you deadline. I understand deadlines and would do exactly what you are doing.  Then, once this deadline is met, you might consider taking off your entire warp....I've had to do that more than once when I was teaching... just press the brake to release some warp, chain sections of it, press the brake again, pull out, etc until all is out. As you go, you will see what you did wrong in the winding on of the warp...you might even find the error not so far in and not have to unwind all of the warp....you'll recognize it...it'll look like a "trainwreck"!
