I am looking for 9" metal heddles for a Dorset loom I was given recently. Any suggestions?
thanks!
Teresa
Just an idea: why not go for the texsolv? If you call Joanne at Glimakra USA, she'll know just what to send you. I have put texsolv on my Dorsets- makes it even more portable~ lighter weight with texsolv.
I got the heddles for my Dorset at Gowdey Reed. I opted for the inserted eyes and they were perfect.

My "Baby Mac"...ie Macomber CP workshop loom, uses 9" metal heddles. I am not sure exactly where the heddle bars need to slide through them on the Dorset, but they might work nicely. My CP heddle bars are 3/8" tall and the measurement from the top of the top one to the bottom of the bottom one is 8-1/2". I am using their older style flat steel heddles. I believe that they now mostly carry wire or inserted eye type heddles which also fit. Some of these older jack looms work better with the weight of the metal heddles and have issues with floating shafts when you swap them with texsolv. You can reach Macomber in York, ME at (207)363-2808. Lucky you! A cute Dorset!

Barbara, you are correct that the heddles on the baby mac are the same size as the dorset heddles - I interchange mine all the time.
Gail
Does anyone know if the heddles for the Baby wolf are the same size as the Dorset and the Baby Mac. I have a load of the old steel heddles that I took off my Baby Wolf ages ago. I would be happy to give them to you for the price of shipping.

Hi Barbara,
I am a total beginner in weaving so please forgive my lack of knowledge of the proper terminology (I'm starting a series of classes next week!).
The loom I was given is four-harness, but I've only got two with heddles and heddle supports. When I took the loom in for an evaluation the shop owner said I need 9 inch heddles. I remeasured the ones that are on there and they are 9 inches--measured from tip to tip. My heddle supports are 3/8" and the slits in the heddles are 1/2". Can you measure yours to see if they measure the same? I'd be happy to pay for shipping if the measurments match up. Please let me know! And let me know how to get the money to you if necessary.
Thanks ever so much.
Teresa
I am getting a Baby Mac later today and will be looking for more heddles. I might be interested if they would fit my new to me loom. Keep me in mind please.
Rena
No, the Baby Wolf heddles are 10 1/2 inches, much too big for a dorset or a baby mac.
Hello, I have 600 9" heddles in excellent condition, and a few hundred 6.5", also in excellent condition. I'd like to swap them for a new Leclerc boat shuttle, or two good used ones. Contact me if interested, regards, Frank- TheLoominary.
I just spoke to Joanne from Glimakra. She said to measure from the top to the bottom of the metal bars that hold the heddles. I get a smidgen over 8.5 inches, 21.6 cm. The closest size in the Glimakra catalog is 8 5/8", 22 cm. Joanne was on a cell phone in a car, but she seemed to think the 8 5/8" size would work. I am going to e-mail her my measurements to be sure. You wouldn't happen to have any information as to what size it was that you actually bought?
Need total length of 9 inches. I have about 100 9.5 inch inserted eye wire heddles, free (you pay postage)
