The unique and beautiful studio of the late textile artist Alice Kagawa Parrott in Santa Fe, New Mexico has been recently enlarged and renovated with one-bedroom living quarters and is available for a three- to five-month winter lease.  The unit is in the rear of a half-acre property which also has an art
gallery facing Canyon Road and an occupied three bedroom house.  This studio is set
back about 100 feet from the house, separated by a garden area.  Both
the studio and addition were designed by local architect David Perrigo
and constructed by local craftsman Johnny Young.  Located in the center of Santa Fe's historic arts district, the studio is fully equipped for dyeing and weaving on several looms, including a Gilmore 40" 8-harness jack loom in the main studio, and 3 other looms in the rear studio.

The new addition is 480 sq. ft. of living space, constructed with natural wood siding.  It contains a
kitchen, bath and bedroom with radiant brick-floor heating throughout.  The
new kitchen has a gas range, stainless refrigerator, quartz composite countertops with Italian ceramic backsplash
and a double stainless sink.  The bathroom has a
whirlpool tub with continuous tankless water heater.  The bedroom has a
rustic queen-sized bed, bureau and nightstand, walk-in closet and a ceiling fan/light combination.  There is a covered
patio area with weathered teak chair and bench connecting the main studio to the rear studio.  The
main studio is 433 sq. ft, constucted of adobe with a natural mud
stucco finish inside and out, and unique curved vigas across the high
ceiling.  There are 3 doors to the room for easy access.  There are two
skylights and windows on three walls for outstanding light.  The brick
floors also have radiant heat.  There is a utility sink and gas range in
the main studio for dyeing yarn.  The 386 sq.ft. rear studio with the
large 100" Nilus LeClerc and 2 other looms is also available for use, although the heating is from an electric baseboard heater only.

Off-street parking, WiFi and HDTV are available by arrangement, and furnishings can be customized by request.

This is a rare opportunity to live and work in the center of Santa Fe's Canyon Road district.  Rent is $950 per month plus utilities and can be leased for 3 to 5 months beginning December 1, 2010 through April 30, 2011.  Shorter stays may be arranged, depending on availability.
