okay, here's an idea that might help everyone....how about a "Thank$ for the hint" button we can use?

It could be structured so that when we get an idea or specific direction from someone we could hit it and:

1.  via paypal we can recognize that weaver's knowlege with some type of gratuity or payment for helping solve that problem

2.  with a percentage going to Weavolution in recognition of the vehicle provided to help us connect with help on a specific problem

This would be purely optional.  Perhaps folks could add something like that to their profile.  If they don't want $ they could just have a counter that shows how many "thanks for the hint" hits they've taken.  (think collecting Olympic pins just because you can).  OR just have a small donation go to Weavolution....I forget if you guys are profit or non-profit.

So many times there are hints and advice I get from folks that I highly value but can never repay them for it except with a thank you.  Of course if they actively teach I can take a workshop from them WHEN they are in my area or if they write a book I can buy it IF it is still in print.

Some folks might think that $ might diminish generousity of intellectual sharing but I really would like to give some type of tangible recognition to folks that take the time to share within our community.

Hi Deb, Thanks for the idea.

Hi Deb,

Thanks for the idea.  We're going to have to think about this one.  It would be great if the advice  given could tangibly help the giver, but I wonder how other users would percieve it?  I love the idea of at least a thank you button.

What do others think?

if not a thank you button

if not a thank you button how about an accumulated "light bulb" button....think facebook with the "like" function, at least we can give a thumbs up for great advice.  It would avoid accumulated messages of "gee thanks" in their many variations.

examples of  "aha" moments for me this week where you had to put sunglasses on when the brain flash went on (with apologies to the folks whose name I can't remember!)

Kerstin's link to her block articles

a link to a rug weaver's use of the swift for rag weft rather than balls

several hints in the DIY forum

S Butler's great hint on hemming scarfs in the scarf finish forum

Franco's chart of sizes

some are soooo simple but duh, needed a connection from someone else to apply that one simple hint that someone took the time to type coherently!

off to figure out color mixes in Stitchpainter!  regards  Deb

I like this better.  My own

I like this better.  My own Ah Ha (and duh)  moment was Bonnie's double weave finish.

We will put this on the list.  Please don't hold your breath as we've got so many areas we have to take care of first!

As an OT moment, I got to see

As an OT moment, I got to see an example of the double weave hem when I saw Bonnie yesterday. It's very nice looking and a lovely way to finish a scarf or anything.

Deb, I love the fact that you want people to know how much you appreciate the help they have given you. I believe that the exchange of good ideas is what we are all looking for. Kerstin provided you with great links for articles on block design,  you  gave me some ideas in other areas and we all scratch each other's back in one way or another.  It's a positive example of what goes around, comes around.

I believe each of us loves to receive some reward for a job well done or for sharing information. If  you want to do something special for the people on Weavolution who have done a favor for you, write to them and say thank you. Write it in the forum or write a pm. Either way, they will be happy to hear their words were heard.
