One thing I have noticed is that if you reply to an old post, the red envelope does not appear.The fact that you posted appears on the main forum page but if someone else then does a new post , there is no way for the intended recipient of your post to know that they have had a reply-except if they happen to go back and re read all the old posts.

Can you give me the node for where this happened? If I understand, you replied to someone who had posted a note from 4 days ago, for instance, and it did not show up as a new post? Is there somewhere you have as an example?

Yes, that's right. I replied to esmecat who had posted a few days ago at DIY tools.....Other people had posted new comments since esmecat's. My new post was shown on the main forums page as ''last post.....'' as usual, but there was no red envelope on the DIY page and so nothing to give esmecat, to whom I was responding, an indication that there was a reply for her.
My reply on the above node is the 7th after the topic opener's intro.

I received an email today telling me that someone had replied to one of my Forum posts-first time this is happened. Is this new?-this is the perfect solution to the problem I mentioned above.

I've had this happen too, and just presumed it was teething problems. Its particularly bad on the Backstrap Weaving forum, and could be due to it being quite busy - the DIY one gets busy too! I have given up being notified about new postings as my Inbox started getting crowded, so its very frustrating not being able to find the new posts.
Also, on the Backstrap forum, I've noticed that for the top thread, If I click on the "1 new" or whatever, it never takes me to the new post. The others all seem to work.
And please, can we get the dates sorted???? I'm trying to nag gently, because I know theres a lot to do! You guys are doing a fantastic job, :-) !! And some smilies please??
I think this is fixed with the new forum changes, but I can honestly say that I've been ignoring the whole envelope issue.
I'm going to spend some time this morning and see whether the envelopes are actually appearing as they should and I'll report a bug to our developer if things are not as they should be.
