When I just logged on, there was a "hot thread" from the help forum.
When I (instead of clicking it on the first page) went to "forums" there were no "new" topics marked - but when I went to the help forum, there were three posts I had not read. On the forum page itself there were the usual red "new".
(Win XP, Firefox 3.6.8)
Thanks for letting us know. We'll pass along the word.
Everyone else, if you're noticing similar issues, please post them here, including your operating system and browser information.

Has anyone noticed some type of path you follow that actually makes the red new message go off? It actually goes off and back on for me, I can't get a handle on it other than I've noticed that one minute it goes away and the next screen, iiiiiittttt's baaaaack! (as in the new message red market)
Thanks - keep it coming! The more specific details, the better. I hope to refer our developers to all the details you put in here.
This is a new weird thing. On this thread, a bunch of messages are repeated. I copied the link here
Bonnie.
Yeah Bonnie, that happened on Sunday, doesn't seem to be happening today......I saw it with some of my posts and Micheal White's posts.....I thought I had hit enter twice, it was with great relief that I saw Michael's post hiccup also!
I continue to see red "new" even after reading posts (over and over).

I use Mac 10.4.11 and Safari 4.1
I just read "new" messages in this forum
then clicked on "dashboard" to return to the recent activity list and the "new" was still red
I then selected a couple of the activity boxes and hit "apply" - the red disappeared.
I tried this again - this next time the red was gone right away when I went back to the dashboard
Just another observation. ;)
Just noticed another thing in moving to the dashboard again - I am clicking "dashboard" in the orange box (not going back)
my most recent comment doesn't show until I select a box in the recent activity and apply
this is not consistent either - sometimes it does show the updated list immediately - another time not
Thank you for all these observations. We are meeting with the developers soon and we will be able to sort things out.
Claudia
