These last 3-4 days it has happened to me several times: I click on a (weavo) link, and get a blank page. Reloading often (but not always) helps. If it doesn't help, I go back to where I starded, click again and usually get the page.
It can be any page - Forums, or individual threads, or an user...
Yesterday it happened 4-5 times, today just one, during tha week on average one time a day.
Hi Kerstin,
Thanks for the report! I know some people will disregard an issue like this if it goes away with refreshing the page, but we want to know about it! (Even if it makes us a little sad sometimes.)
With something random-ish like this, I suspect we'll need some very specific information to correlate the event to site activity logs.
If and when you see this, could you please note the following?:
- * The page that didn't load - full URL from the address bar
- * The time and day (down to the minute, and include your timezone)
That goes for anyone else who sees this issue. Please don't be shy. Let us know if you click on a link and get a completely blank page, and the page is "done" loading.
Please note that this is different from the page hanging and not displaying anything while it is still loading... if you see a message like 'Waiting on d1.openx.org', that is a separate issue already on our list.
I don't know how quickly we will figure this one out, but I know from experience that details like the above would be helpful!
PS: I'm working on helping prioritize our issue logs right now. So I will go ahead and add this to the list.
Of course the phenomenon became less frequent... but it happened right now:
starting from "my gpoups" (...weavolution.com/group/mytracker) I clicked to get to ...com/group/cotton-clouds-talk/whose-entering-17888#new and got a blank page. Re-load worked.
Time 10:04 GMT-1; signed-in as kerstinfroberg
Edited: clicked the red "new"
Thanks Kerstin. That's exactly the sort of detail that helps.
If anyone else is experiencing this issue, and it is unique to your experience on Weavolution (it isn't happening with other websites you frequent), then we really need to know - just like Kerstin did, that was perfect.
I don't know how much attention this will get with our service provider at the moment. The registration notification issue is taking priority. Additional records on this problem occurring will help.
(thinking that the more you know, the easier to track - not trying to hurry anything)
22:02, GMT -1; from my groups (again); clicking "new" to get to .../group/avl/first-project-finished-18005#new
Re-load worked. Still loggen in as kerstinfroberg
Kerstin, how does Weavolution compare to Facebook or to some other website with lots of pictures? Do you have the same loading problem? I am just trying to figure out if it is us, the browser or your ISP. It's hard to rule out everything but have you tried a different browser? Which one are you using? IE does not play well with Drupal, but most others do.
Thanks for all the info. Our developers return on Monday and the more info we can provide, the easier it may be to reproduce what you are experiencing.
Thanks,
Claudia
It has never happened on a "regular" basis with other sites. (Regular in quotes, because it is really IRregular - but it has happened several times one day, them maybe not of 3 days, then onec, fine next day, then twice...) In the period I'm talking about here, it has NOT happened with any other site.
Over a linger period I've had it happen maybe once for a Yahoo-group (they don't have pictures, but several ads). Now and again it happens that personal websites will not show ok in Firefox - some of these will open in IE, so my guess is they don't have a good standardized code.
My ISP is slow at times, but then it displays something in the lower left corner (like "waiting for ..."). When the lower left corner says "done" and nothing displays, my take is that there is no hope waiting...
And no, I have not tried another browser. Firefox (currently 3.6.16) works for everything I usually want to see. I don't really want to have to remember that site A needs IE, site B is fine in Ff, site C has to have Safari... if it doesn't work, it doesn't.
As I said, I'm NOT trying to rush things, but, back when I was a programmer, we often found it helpful if we could get more than one example of how/when the problem occurred. Which mean I will go on reporting if/when it happens again.
promptly, again:
16:23 GMT - 1, from weavolution.com/forum/weaving, clicking the "1 new" to get to weavolution.com/forum/weaving/why-does-size-change-18022#new
Re-load worked. (When iI say re-load, it does not mean shift-reload)
I believe I have an answer.
When the pages load on Weavolution, the ads are brought into the page from the ad server, OpenX. If their server is slow, as it has been intermittently in the past few days, our pages load more slowly. You can see this happening if your web browser shows you what is going on as the page loads. I use Chrome for Mac and in the lower left corner of the page it tells me what is going on as the page loads. If it takes a while I have noticed it often says "waiting for OpenX".
Please let me know if you have the same experience. When I use Safari I am unable to see what is being loaded as I wait for any page, not just Weavo.

today (24/4) at 10.29 GMT - 1 I wanted http://weavolution.com (that is, no www), which is the address I always use. Nothing displayed. Did not try re-load, but went to another page instead. A few minutes later, weavo behaved as it should.
In an earlier message I wrote: "My ISP is slow at times, but then it displays something in the lower
left corner (like "waiting for ..."). When the lower left corner says
"done" and nothing displays, my take is that there is no hope waiting...".
If I try to phrase that differently - when I request a page, using Firefox, two things happen in the bottom grey bar of the window. To the right, there appears a (don't know the correct name for it) rectangle that is more or less slowly filled with dark blue. While this rectangle is filling, there is also a text at the bottom left corner of that same bar, saying something like "waiting for ...". When the rectangle is filled, it disappears, and the text changes to "Done". If I still have a blank window, I call that "a page that does not load" (this might technically be incorrect - maybe it should be called "a page that does not display"). Anyway, I think that this situation is different from the "waiting for ...", and that is the reason I'm reporting.
And when I tried to post the comment above, I got disconnected. The message was (my translation - my browser speaks Swedish, whatever I ask it to) "Connection timed out". I clicked the "try again" button, and it worked ("it", whatever that is, remembered the text of the post)
Time for the time-out was 11.19, still GMT - 1.
Today, at 9:25 GMT - 1 I wrote a reply to the thread below. After submitting the reply, I got a blank page. (I believe the link goes to my comment)

Hoping these examples are enough for you to investigate (if you have time), I'll leave you alone on this...
Edited to add: in this period (from the 18 April, and the week before) this non-loading has not happened to me on *any* other site.
Thank you Kirsten! I trust your reporting. You've been an ace at providing the level of detail that I asked.
Right now, we are still dealing with the issue of new user registrations. I will spare you the details and summarize - registration e-mails should now be delivered for most new users, but we are seeing a few cases where the e-mails come back to us and are not delivered. Once this issue is resolved to our satisfaction, I will recommend to Claudia that we present the information you've gathered to our hosting provider for analysis.
the problem has been less for a while, but is back in full force this week. Yesterday a couple of times, this morning (around 8-8:30, GMT - 1) two or three times, and again just now (15:37 GMT - 1). Now, I was going from weaving forum landing page to http://weavolution.com/forum/weaving/wea...
Yesterday it happened when I wanted to look at a picture - ended up with a totally black page (but that could be something else). Can't remember which pic, but it was on a project page.
Hi Kerstin,
Thanks for continuing to post about this. We have it on the issues list and will be discussing it soon. It sounds very annoying.
Claudia
As I know you "did" something to the site awhile ago, I just wanted to tell it did not alter this particular problem.
