I have trouble down loading pics. because most of my pics are 3.5 - 3.8 MB ,and this site will only down load 2.0MB or smaller files. The only way I can do that is to print from my file, scan that print back to my computer then, down load that to
Weavolution. My pics. end up grainy, light and hard to get any details to show my work. Maybe I doing it wrong. My pic files are as small as I can get them. Tried to compress them but they are already as small as then can be. If there is a trick to down loading pics. onto Weavolution,  please let me know. Thanks....................Steve.

Maybe they are too grainy for your taste but you have a lot of play between this and 3MB. Loading pictures of several MB size makes it impossible for some of us with slow internet here to view some of the pages. I have given up on some of them. I washed 3 blouses yesterday while waiting for a page here to load.

I use the Microsoft Picture Manager which comes in the Microsoft Office package to downsize my photos. Low bytes doesn't necessarly mean small physical size on the screen.

Hi everyone, I'm forwarding

Hi everyone,

I'm forwarding your question to Marian as she will have a much better idea of how to answer this.   We have a number of users who use dial-up to access the site, so as you can imagine, even 2MB can cause them headaches!

The software I use came with my computer.  It gives me the option of compressing to whatever size I want and also has defaults for thumbnail, email, and website sizes.  The website size is ~500KB, if I recall.  It comes up a decent size, not huge.

Steve the process you're going through is certainly labor intensive!  Let's see if Marian can come up with something better.

We'll also talk to our developer about the resizing.  I agree it would be nice if the Weavolution software did it.

 Peter Collingwood would

Peter Collingwood would always remind us about this on the Rugtalk list and other lists, some folks are still on slow download speeds and we should respect that.  I think uploading several sample photos on Weavolution with comments and then directing folks to a blog or webpage is the way to go.  That way, folks can decide on their own how they want to display their photos on their blog or web page and folks can jump over there depending on their upload/download speed.

We are not all equal on the internet and folks tend to forget that in their broadband world.  It is not good, it is not bad, it is just different!

  Here's another

Here's another way....you can link a small picture to the url of a larger picture on another site like Flickr. That way people can choose if they want to see the other picture by left clicking on the image. If they have slow internet they can just stay here and look at this one. If you left click on this picture you will go to my Flickr page.

This picture is 90kb.

Hi Steve, As Alison said,

Hi Steve,

As Alison said, we'll consult Marian for further assistance. Meanwhile, what computer, operating system and internet service provider are you using.

I had the same problem with my Mac and Laverne reminded me of the challenge it faces for her and others with slower connections.  The Mac allows me to export my photos and choose the size.  It;s the only way I can reduce the mb of a pic and still get good resolution.

Looking forward to hearing from you and helping to work this out.
