Weavolutionaries -
I want to forewarn you about an issue I discovered this morning that may seem a bit disconcerning if you run into it. If you post a new topic, and wonder why it is not appearing at the top of the list... I believe It is because there have been no replies. Is anyone else running into this problem?
I have submitted a request to get this corrected.
Thank You,
Kay
Updated 2-Sep-2009. OK, I submitted a request to lock this thread so that anybody with NEW issues wouldn't inadvertently post here, and now the thread replies are not showing up. Something else to be looked into...
I just posted a new topic in the Weaving forum and it appeared at the top of the list. And yours is at the top of the Report a Bug forum. Are you not seeing any of your new topics in forums until someone replies to them?
I have looked through several forums and, so far, it seems to be just that one post in the Weaving forum. I don't understand what or why. I'll keep reading but it appears to be a single anomaly.
Claudia
Should I try and repost it?
Autumm -
If you can hold on it for a few days, this is a really useful example of a problem. Sometimes bugs are hard to recreate, so this one is "extra special" *grin*
Thank you for bearing with us,
Kay
Cool. lol
OK - Perhaps you've noticed, the bug has been fixed, and Autumm's post is now showing in the correct order in the forum listing. I don't know if any other posts were affected by the problem.
One bug shot!
*grin*
Kay
For a great example of non-chronological postings, take a look at the backstrap forum! It would appear the bug multiplied before its untimely demise, grrrrrrrrr!
Where's the fly spray?
Esmecat just posted a comment to the backstrap forum but the thread didn't move to the top. I saw on the main forum page that she had posted but when I went into the group I had to scroll down a long way to find on which thread she had commented. Now that I have read it I doubt anyone else will find it down there.
I have found another example in the backstrap group and there could be others. Caroline posted to the WAL progress thread which didn't move to the top. Another problem......She posted 3 hours ago. When I get to the end of page 2 where the last post was on Friday there is no option which allows me to go to page 3...only ''previous'' and'' first'' so I can't find Caroline's post nor see anyone elses' who posted between now and last Friday.........This is a BIG problem!!!
I see what you're talking about Laverne! I'll see if I can get the techies rolling on it.
Kay
OK I found Caroline's latest post-it was a reply to an earlier one and was back on page one.
So that is sorted out. The only prob now is the threads not moving up to the top.....
Thanks, Kay.
I have reported this to our development company late today when we found it I think they may have gone home for the day so it will have to wait until early tomorrow morning. They are usually there quite early compared to Eastern time. I will stay on top of it all day tomorrow.
Watch this space adn the News forum for topics related to this issue.

NEW topics appear at the top as they should.
But.......if you post on an existing topic that happens to be topic number 18 on the list, the topic remains down there at number 18 and doesn't move up to the top and, gets ignored.
A visitor to the group's forum will generally scan the top topics looking for recent activity. Right now the first topics in the Backstrap Weaving group are showing old activity and the group looks lifeless when, in fact, there has been recent and fresh activity but one has to scroll down-which one normally doesn't have to do-to find the most recent activity.
WAY TO KILL A GROUP :(
BACKSTRAP GROUP IS AFFECTED.
NEW topics appear at the top as they should.

Right now the most recent activity threads in the backstrap group are listed at positions 6, 7 ,11 and 17!!! Only the first topic is in the right position as that was recently created.
Oh, dear, what can the matter be?
The backstrap group has its back where the front should be
We hope the technicians can put things where they aught to be
Or no-one will know we post there!

I'm all ready up and gone
Lord I am so tired
How long can this go on?
Yes, we know there is still a problem with the topic ordering within the forum posts... (much behind the scenes grumbling....)
Please bear with us!
Kay
p.s. the song just seemed to hit the right cord!...
Nice to inject a spot of levity into this issue!
Theres nothing like a spot of dodgy code to liven things up - not.
Its a bit like a needle in a haystack.
I used to program for fun <shakes head>.
OK, folks, since last night, the secondary bug now appears to be fixed!!!
Guess working in the Coal Mine did the trick! *grin*
Kay
OK, It's now Wednesday, Sept 2, 930 EDT and it's looks like Backstrap weaving forum is back to what it should be.
Here is the way forums should appear:
I have changed the forum post ordering as per mention below priority.
1) Sticky forum topic are given to top priority. i.e. Sticky forum topic will always come on top
2) Latest reply will be given to 2nd priority. i.e. forum topic having latest reply will come on top just below sticky forum topic.
If any forum topic don’t have reply it will order according to created date.
This is the best way to put active forum topic always on top.
Now, if we can find a way to prevent that nasty old bug from returning : )
Claudia
Thank you Kay and Claudia, its much appreciated!
You're welcome Caroline.
I also appreciate your posts and suggestions for Weavolution. It thrills me to see you using and enjoying the site.
Happy weaving,
Claudia
Nope...can't come up with a song-just a big THANKS!! I know you are at the mercy of the developers and things get fixed when THEY want to fix them. Thanks to Kay, Claudia and Tina.
Laverne
Now I think I would like to request that this thread be locked, so that if anyone experiences any NEW problems, they won't be associated with this thread... that just get's confusing.
