Yay! I have just noticed that I have now been a member of Weavolution for one year :-)
It has made a great difference to me, so thank you to the great folks behind the screens and to all the friends I have made on here from all over the world. This summer I have actually managed to meet 3 of them already, none of them from my own country, and am looking forward to another meeting in the coming week.
Quite an expansion of my (weaving) world.
Ellen,
Now that IS pretty cool! (meeting members from the site, outside of your own country.) I travel quite a bit domestically in the U.S. for work, but you are definitely on my radar if the opportunity for an ocean crossing pops up on my agenda.
Hi Ellen,
I was just reflecting that recently as I sat backstrap weaving at Convergence. My, how my weaving world has expanded since I joined Weavolution. I am staying with a Weavo buddy right now in North Carolina.
you 've got that right,Ellen; the world becomes a village thanks to the internet. We are getting ready and packed and then .... off to Denmark.
Yes, I started the summer with visiting a friend from Scotland on our trip there in June, then I had a visitor from the US come to my place by the sea, and finally another dear US friend came to see me here in Copenhagen!
You would be very welcome here, too Sally, and I have a firm plan, that if I ever go to the US again, I'll be sure to ask around if any of my good Weavo-friends happen to live nearby my places of visit, so ...
And it is a great dream of mine that you, Laverne, would make it to Europe too, one day, and put Denmark on your list, too :-)
And I am really looking forward to seeing you next week, Jeannine.
Thanks to Weavolution, I now have a good friend, and partner, in Boulder CO (Alison) whom I hope to visit next year when we are vacationing out west. I hope to attend CHT next year and meet, in person, Ingamarie and other weavers from Texas.
I have enjoyed Laverne's visits to Maryland and MaryMartha has come to our little hamlet 35 miles from DC a couple of times. I have also developed new relationships with people in DC I never would have met without Weavolution.
It may seem obvious since I am here so often but my world has expanded in ways I never expected thanks to Weavolution.
Anyone else?
Claudia
It is all within reach Ellen (as long as my brother doesn't go and retire early from QANTAS). Would love to see you in Denmark!
Give dear Jeannine a hug for me!
Super, Laverne. Long live "retirement", right ;-)
I'll sure do that.
thank you ,Laverne. We are all packed. It is a pitty i could not take a backstrap loom . just finished all my projects. But i packed some wool and spindles and a little tapestry-loom.I took it also to an artmarket last week. As we plan a really lazy relaxing kind off holiday i will have much time to work on that.

Hi Jeannine,
Good to hear that you are ready for it. Have a safe journey, and bring a few of your nice projects to show me on Thursday, please.
Ellen
I've met three Weavolution friends. Sharon (ranvaig) I met here in Indy when she attended a Drupal group meeting. I met Alison and Laverne (bolivian warmi) at Convergence. I saw Tien several times, but she was always involved in a conversation with someone else so I never actually met her, but...
I'm sure there were other Weavolutionaries at Convergence that I probably talked to but didn't realize we we had this site in common. But there's always next time.
Hi there - just to say that I was the person in Scotland who had the pleasure of Ellen's company back in June. What a great day we had together and formed a great friendship. So all you folk promising to go to Denmark must add Scotland to the list !!
I have met so many interesting and kind people through the internet and through my blog. It doesn't matter what questions you have there will always be someone out there willing to share their expertise and they could be from any part of the world.
So, yes please add me to your list of people to visit when coming to Europe !
I was wining earlier this week about the new format. I'm starting to get along better with it now, using the dashboard. Anyway, I couldn't just quit because I also have made friends here. I have met Laverne, Franco, Annie, Daryl, Jeannie, Tom, and who else? I had a great time with Laverne back in April when she came to California for the Conference of Northern California Handweavers. She was with me at my place when my Glimakra Standard came my way.
I'm looking forward to meeting more Weavoluitonaries in the future. I'm looking at a rearrangement of my mill/studio, to make the studio more user friendly. I'd like to have more workshops there. I'm also building a nice big patio outside the mill for wet projects, felting and dying, and hot weather meetings. It is shaded by some very tall fir trees. This will also be a great place for summer workshops. This is how I'm going to intice some of you great folks to come out to visit me. Come teach or take a workshop in my back yard!
You have helped me start Friday with a smile, thanks.
Claudia
