Does anyone else watch the new projects that show up regularly? I do!
I just click on the Projects tab, and look at the projects that are shown. The first view shown is always the one with the most recently added projects. It's part of the enjoyment I find using weavolution, to see what different people are working on.
Today I saw that Astra had added a project that showed a picture of her warp-weighted loom! How fun! I did not know that there would be anyone on Weavolution using that type of loom. I guess you learn something all of the time.
The different projects I see people working on serve to inspire me, keep me motivated about my own projects, and teach me about the different techniques everyone is using. My own weaving is pretty basic, but that doesn't mean all of this isn't interesting to me!
Thank You for posting (and sharing) your projects!
Kay
I know what you mean! I love seeing whats new each day!
And what's so special is the wide variety of weaving thats going on, all the different styles woven on so many different looms, and I find it helpful when the weaver has added something about the work underneath.
Inspirational!
Thank you!
I do the same thing every day! I think it's exciting to see what other people are working on and it helps get my brain going for planning future projects. It's so fun to have a place where other weavers gather and are just as excited as me. :)
I agree with Caroline, I like it when the weaver puts something about the work at the bottom of the page. I try to do this with the projects I add.
Thanks for this post!
I love having the chance to see what everyone else is up to. Its so inspiring to see what colors and patterns are created from all over the world. The same thing can not be created because weaving is so personal. That's the beauty of it all.
I also love to peruse all these inspiring project. And it makes my fingers itch to share some of my own, if I could only overcome the technical difficulties I have with the computer-side of things. I have tried just once, and that didn't work out too well, and I have not yet figured out how to add photos, which to myself is what really catches the attention in the first place. Perhaps I am too old and belong to the pre-internet world. But love to have a look at it all, anyway.
What do you mean you haven't figured out how to add photos?!?!?! It looks like you've done it! Congratulations! And what about that loom??? It looks really interesting...
Actually, I quite understand that learning about what you can and can't do with photos can be very confusing. We will have some additional information about that coming soon. I hope you will find it helpful.

Thank you for your very supportive comment :-) Yes, after I wrote the comment, I thought I'd give it one more try (persistence is maybe also a weaver's trait?) and to my great surprise, wow, it worked.
Yes, I love my loom. It is a 10 shaft Glimakra Standard, 150 cm weaving width. They are quite common in Scandinavia, I think the Swedish firm is one of the biggest over here. It is a beauty, that I bought second hand 10 years ago at a very reasonable price from an elderly lady, who felt age and rheumatism prevented her from weaving any more. I have given it a good home and cherished it ever since.
Actually it is so large, that I only have room for it in my summer residence (3½hours' drive away). But recently I have taken over another smaller loom from my husband's 96 years old aunt, for the same reason. This is an old Danish make, that is not produced any more, called Askov. And it fits snugly into a corner of my study :-)You can just about see it behind a jacket and scarf I wove recently
Edt
The jacket is beautiful and I have a little loom envy over your Glimakra, I must admit. I have 2 looms and they are not exciting enough for pictures except to show a warp in progress. My first loom was a Baby wolf, 4 harness, 6 treadle, your standard American beauty. Next, came a used Tools of the Trade (no long made) heavy floor loom, also a jack mechanism, and I call her Ethel. She is a work horse but it took me about 6 months to learn to use it and now I like her.
I know it'll probably never happen, but I'd love a Glimakra standard or an ideal or a Julia. I'm not too fussy.
Thanks for the pictures. And the jacket is great, please give us more details on that.
And here I am at the Baby Wolf

Thank you so much. And thank you for your great site. I marvel at the time and enegy you people must spend on it to be able to read reactions from you over here in Denmark so soon! Warms my heart::-)
I am pleased with the jacket and shall try to enter it as a project. The thing is I do not have drafts or weaving programmes on my computer. Such an oldfashioned paper and pencil sort of person, you know. But I'll give it a try, as I will also try one day to add a photo to my profile. But have only owned a digital camera for a short time, so have no decent pictures of myself that I think would do. But here is one of me and a co-participant at a summer folkhighschool week on weaving ( I hope, if it works again :-)
Oh, it did. It is me on the left, wearing the jacket but not the scarf. One day I may learn to place and cut photos, too :-)
Hi Edt,
That is a nice photo and a lovely jacket. I enjoy reading the Weavolution forums and often get lost here for hours.
A couple tricks on the photos. First, in your profile. The photo that we all see goes in the first search box on you "Edit my profile" page. Currently, it says "avatar" but that will be changing in the next day or two. So, that is where to put the photo everyone will see. The photo you posted in your reply here would be fine.
So, in the profile you click on "browse" and it should open up a "file upload" place on your computer. Select the file you want and you should automatically be brought back to the "Edit" page. Scroll down to "Save" and click on it. Your photo should now be there, you will probably need to refresh the page to see it. You may need to reboot your web browser but that should do it.
When loading photos into projects, you will see a place for the "cover image", that is where to put your first photo for the project. Just click on "browse" and you will see the box pop up. Select the photo file you want and it will bring you back to the "Add project" page and click on upload. You will now see a thumbnail of your cover photo. You can follow the same procedure for the remaining photo slots on the add project page.
The other thing you can do is add the pictures you have now and if you want to go back and add more, you can always edit your own project, profile, drafts, etc.
Good luck. It seems complex but once you get started you will see it is really very logical.

Yes it is addictive!
I find that after I joined your site I spend more and more hours in here. It's great. And thanks again for all your help and encouragement! I shall keep trying. But now I really must get back to my loom and do some weaving :-) It is late afternoon over here.

Claudia, rather than post this very userful long note in this forum why don't you post it as a subject in in the Weavolution forum and just post a link in this forum. That way you can always have a help topic in the help forum and can update it as the format/way changes...and that way there is not a computer tech note in a forum that other folks might not see.
For example, here's a link to the help you gave me on resizing photos...
Oops! A dearly loved feature went on hiatus... but don't worry, it will be back in very short order, I am sure!
*whew* They fixed it! yay! Glad they fixed it so quickly!
Hi
Thank you for your link! Every bit helps to get to grips with all this technical stuff! Much more difficult than weaving, I find. But great site! I enjoy all the stuff I do manage to discover in here.
