Notes

Still making use of gifted stash as well as MORE practice. Wound the warp on the beam yesterday evening. This morning got all of the warp threaded into the heddles and sleyed through my homemade 4 dent reed. I put 2 in each to make 8 DPI. I can not say for sure this is wool or a mixture. It is coarse, slick to the feel (?lanolin?) and appears to be handspun as parts are thick and full and other parts are much thinner with occasional loose clumps hanging to the side of the yarn. It has a combination of long and short fibers of mostly grey, some spots of black, light brown and an occasional neutral clump. I took a draft that was posted in this site library and modified it to the 80 ends I was going to have with two basket weave strips separating the herringbone pattern and printed it out on "Weave Design". Will post a photo of the finished item later. Finished: I ran out of yarn for weft so I hit a stopping point to cut it off the loom and dress the fringes. I did end up with a little more than a yard of warp left over, so it goes in a big baggie and will see if anyone in the Guild wants it. Wet finishing will happen tomorrow.
